Broken Strings Quest Guide in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

Once you complete the Shadows of the Horns quest, you can immediately venture into the Broken Strings side quest by visiting the Harpist’s Tomb, situated atop a mountain close to the main entrance of the region. This notable landmark goes by the name The Mourning Harpist and is easily reachable just northwest from the fast travel point within the Cuanacht Region.

In the tomb, there are two commemorative altars adorned with inscriptions. These altars narrate the tale of two sisters and offer hints for revealing the paths situated on opposite sides of the room. Crucially, remember that the left-side path can be accessed during daylight hours, while the right-side one opens only at night.

To embark on this journey, feel free to approach either sister, Aine or Aideen initially. You can choose whom to converse with first, but remember that you’ll have to interact with both of them to successfully finish the quest.

Taking the Left Path

During the daylight hours, opt for the path on your left. Follow it along, then make a left at the stairs. Keep moving forward until I encounter the ghost of Aine. (As a gamer)

Interact with her, select a conversation option. In the same room, two adversaries named Pride and Greed will appear. Defeat them both and converse with her once more. Listen carefully to her dialogue to obtain the Aine’s Ashes quest item. Here starts the official quest.

In a room, there stands a statue of a young girl strumming a harp, and nearby, you’ll find a chest. This room also houses an Origin Stone, a Starborn Egg (relic weapon), and both a Health and Mana Elixir.

Taking the Right Path

1. Carry Aine’s remains with you. Leave the tomb and find a suitable location to establish a camp for rest during nighttime.

2. Return to the tomb once it’s dark, and the right-hand passage should now be accessible. Proceed along this path until you encounter Aideen.

3. Engage in conversation with her, followed by getting ready to battle against Envy and Wrath. Overpower them both, then speak to Aideen again for her ashes.

Burying Aine and Aideen’s Ashes

After acquiring both sets of ashes, your journey concludes by navigating to an All-Mother Statue positioned in the northeastern part of the map, situated east of Lord Yvain’s Mansion. Along the way, you’ll encounter and must overcome Red Death Infected foes. At the All-Mother Statue, prepare for a battle against the boss character named Sir Vaelin.

After overcoming him, make your way towards the big eastern tree and engage with it to lay the twins’ remains there, thus finishing the quest.

In the game Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you’ll earn 2,300 XP as a prize for successfully finishing the Broken Strings quest. Though the reward might not be extraordinary, the emotional depth and storytelling that come with Broken Strings make it an engaging side mission to pursue.
