Towards the end of The Last of Us season 2, Ellie manages to locate Abby’s group at a coastal aquarium. It is there that she encounters Tommy and Jesse once more. Meanwhile, back at their improvised movie theater hideout, Ellie makes peace with Jesse again.
However, an unusual noise in the foyer momentarily disrupts them. In response, the pair hastens past it, and amidst this hurried flight, Abby fires at Jesse β a sight that Ellie hadn’t witnessed since Abby took Joel’s life.
At the final moment, Abby looms over Tommy, who’s wounded, brandishing a gun towards him. She warns that she’ll also harm Jim unless Ellie surrenders her weapon and emerges from cover. Later, Abby remarks, “You had a chance to use it wisely. But you squandered it.
Immediately after Abby lifts her gun, the scene switches to Ellie exclaiming “No, no, no!”, followed by a gunshot that echoes simultaneously, causing the screen to suddenly darken.
However, the narrative continues by transporting us back three days to Seattle, specifically Day One. Here, we encounter Abby, who receives a summons from Manny of the Washington Liberation Front, asking her to visit Isaac.
While strolling along the hallway and stepping onto a balcony that overlooks an indoor stadium complex β serving as a WLF base within Seattle.
At this point, we’re left wondering: Was it truly Abby who fired at Ellie? The scene abruptly concludes after a gunshot, leaving us in doubt about what really happened.
It appears that since Abby is a major character and Joel, another key character, has left the series, it’s rather improbable that Abby would perish because it seems less probable for significant characters like her to meet an untimely end after one has already departed.
As the current season concludes, fans are left in suspense, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the next season to uncover whether Ellie survives the gunshot and learn what transpires afterward.
