Prior to the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise – star of Jerry Maguire – declined to confirm if the latest Mission Impossible film marks the end of the series. In a chat with People Magazine, members of the movie’s cast have expressed their opinions on the matter.

Angela Bassett, portraying CIA director Erika Sloane, remarked that Tom Cruise is someone who can’t be underestimated or ruled out. He’s consistently ready for thrilling experiences and committed to delivering the action that viewers eagerly anticipate.

In addition, Simon Pegg expressed his viewpoint: “I always say, ‘Things change.'” As the actor plays the role of field agent Benji Dune in the film, he further commented, “I don’t think Tom is fond of endings. I believe that even if there’s no continuation, leaving the cinema with a sense of, ‘Perhaps there’s more,’ might be more appealing than leaving with a feeling of sadness.” And I think that’s the magic – to stir hope instead of despair in the audience.

Additionally, Hayley Atwell chimed in on the discussion. She expressed that with the film’s release, there is a “fulfilling conclusion” to the series. However, the actress also pointed out that Tom Cruise is the one individual who has never stopped moving forward. She further noted, “This is his nature.

About Cruise, when asked if he would reprise the role of Ethan Hunt, the actor expressed, “Why don’t we simply let them watch the movie tonight. This is essentially the culmination of 30 years, and I believe that this is—I prefer for people to see it and appreciate it instead.
