VISION QUEST Showrunner Talks About How He’s Tackling the WANDAVISION Spin-Off

It’s been four long years since the conclusion of “WandaVision”. Now, after various delays, Paul Bettany’s android Avenger character will resume his journey in the upcoming series titled “Vision Quest“. Filming for this Disney+ show is underway in the U.K. Terry Matalas, renowned for crafting the fantastic final season of “Star Trek: Picard”, serves as the showrunner for “Vision Quest”. In a recent episode of Katee Sackhoff’s podcast, “The Sackhoff Show”, Matalas shared some insights into his creative process for this series. Here’s what he revealed about how he’s approaching the project:

The initial concept was quite detailed, something like ‘This, this, and this.’ However, there were numerous paths to achieve that. What I’m aiming for is a broad response, suggesting that if your goal is ‘this’, then you might also need to consider ‘this, this, and this.’ This collaboration has been an enriching journey. It doesn’t have to be with the most renowned studios; it’s more about the creative process, and I believe we are crafting something truly unique and valuable.

It’s intriguing to speculate whether the guidelines provided by Kevin Feige for the Vision Quest series were inspired by Tom King’s 2015 Vision mini-series, where the synthezoid hero endeavors to understand his humanity by establishing an android family in a suburban setting. One of his creations, Viv Vision, has since become quite significant in the Marvel universe. Given that “White Vision” now possesses the memories of the Vision created by Wanda Maximoff within her hex, he might be inclined to explore domestic life. However, the instructions Marvel gave Terry Matalas could also involve devising a way to resurrect Ultron, another plot point in the series. We’ll discover the truth when Vision Quest premieres on Disney+ in 2026.
