Sayl the Faithless and Norsca revealed for Total War: Warhammer 3 – Tides of Torment

In follow-up to yesterday’s announcement about the Tides of Torment DLC, Creative Assembly has officially confirmed that Sayl the Faithless is set to be the second Legendary Lord showcased in the upcoming expansion. Notably, Sayl will introduce Norsca as a contender, a faction that has been eagerly awaiting attention.

In an unusual twist for a Norseman, Sayl the Faithless isn’t defined by courage on the battlefield. Instead, he’s a master manipulator, a sly strategist who doesn’t hesitate to deceive anyone or anything in his pursuit of power. In the game, he’ll be a formidable magic user, with the ability to choose and use powers from two different schools of magic – an innovative design by the developers. Consistent with his character in the lore, Sayl’s campaign mechanics are centered around plotting and carrying out betrayals.

In the showcase, CA unveiled some of the characters that will be part of the game, with Nightmaw being the first and most notable. As hinted in the Tides of Torment teaser, Nightmaw is a monstrous Chaos Spawn, known for its grotesque appearance.

Adding Fimir Nobles to the roster will enhance Norsca’s array of hero characters, providing them with a boost during battles by strengthening other Fimir units.

Indeed, Sayl won’t be arriving here empty-handed; instead, he’ll bring along an impressive exhibit – his famous creation, the Chimera.

In keeping with our customary practice, CA is set to make significant updates to the races presented in the DLC. For Norsca, these modifications won’t just impact the race as a whole, but also particular factions within it. The changes will encompass aspects such as the Monstrous Arcanum (with added hunt opportunities), Chaos God Allegiances, and Confederation mechanics.

In terms of game mechanics related to each faction, Wulfrik’s Seafang will be revamped to appear on the campaign map, enhancing his raiding capabilities significantly. Throgg, on the other hand, will gain a feature that lets him effectively utilize monsters and trolls, summoning them to rally under his banners. Additionally, both Legendary Lords will receive new voice lines as part of these updates.

Sayl and Norsca have teamed up with Dechala the Denied One and her Daemons of Slaanesh, leaving only one more legendary character and faction yet to be unveiled. The High Elves led by Aislinn the Sea Lord are currently the top bet among players as to who this final reveal might be.

Tides of Tormet is set to be released later in Summer 2025.
