After the appearance of Deadpool and Wolverine, fans are curious about when actor Hugh Jackman might don the adamantium-infused claws once more to reprise his role as the ferocious mutant Wolverine within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There are rumors circulating that Hugh Jackman might reprise his role as Wolverine in either “Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday” or “Secret Wars,” both of which are currently being filmed in the UK.
X-Men are back
Noteworthy is the fact that Hugh Jackman’s X-Men comrades are coming back, with Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique. It’s also been verified that Channing Tatum will be back as Gambit from the movies Deadpool & Wolverine.
Yet, neither Hugh Jackman as Wolverine nor Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool have been officially announced for the upcoming films. However, Robert Downey Jr., reprising his role as Doctor Doom, has hinted at more revelations to come, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that Jackman will be back.
Hugh Jackman Teases Avengers: Doomsday Return With Jokes and Evasion
Lately, it’s been reported that Jackman guested on The View, where he was questioned about the circulating gossip. Rather intriguingly, instead of confirming or denying the rumors, Jackman chose to joke about it and hinted that if he does make an appearance, it will be for a good house-cleaning.
As a film critic, let me put it this way: The character they portray is simply unparalleled. They don’t just show up; they own the screen, leaving every other character in their wake. It’s quite humorous, really – when I say they appear, I mean they dominate and obliterate the scene with such force that it feels like a joke. [Laughs]
Jackman went on to clarify that although he’s expected to reprise his role as Wolverine in “Avengers: Doomsday“, he remains tight-lipped about the details.
Well, it transforms into a solo performance, but just joking… Honestly, I don’t have anything extra to share. If I did, I’d certainly come up with an interesting way to express it, but alas, I’m all out of ideas… So, that was a bit underwhelming, I guess [laughs].
Hugh Jackman Recalls Nerve-Wracking Wolverine Audition
The View also asked Hugh Jackman about his first audition as Wolverine for the Fox Marvel movies.
Born in Australia, Hugh Jackman had to obtain a work visa to try out for the role in Los Angeles. Despite being assured that all arrangements would be taken care of, during his second audition, he lacked the necessary work visa.
Jackman describes his ordeal at customs where he was extremely anxious. The customs officials detected this and flagged him, keeping him in a separate room for about four hours. They grilled him on why he had been in the U.S. only a few days ago for just one day before leaving again.
Jackman admitted to customs officials that he was auditioning for the character of Wolverine, which left them astonished and excited, causing them to gather everyone and exclaim, “It’s Wolverine!”, following which there were no issues at customs.
