Zach Braff Will Officially Join the SCRUBS Reboot

Recently, there was a long silence following the announcement of the Scrubs medical sitcom revival. Fans began to wonder if it would actually happen. However, Deadline reports that Zach Braff, the original lead actor, has officially agreed to return for the reboot. This means Braff will be back as John “J.D.” Dorian, and it’s likely that many other original cast members will follow suit. The original series aired from 2001-2010 for nine seasons.

It appears that there was a significant disagreement between the actor and the studio about the filming location for the series. Braff strongly advocated for Los Angeles, while the studio favored Vancouver due to its lower production costs. However, it seems that Braff has prevailed in this dispute, and the revival of Scrubs will indeed be filmed in L.A. As a result, the studio is now extending offers to other original cast members, including Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes. Just like any well-crafted sequel, the original cast will either work alongside or mentor a new group of medical interns.

Over the past 15 years since “Scrubs” concluded its network broadcast, the television industry has undergone a substantial transformation. Traditional 22-episode network series are becoming increasingly rare. As such, we anticipate that this upcoming “Scrubs” will likely be found on a streaming platform instead of ABC. It’s also expected to have fewer episodes compared to its original run. Given that ABC/Disney originally produced the show, it seems plausible that it will eventually appear on Hulu, which is owned by Disney. This marks yet another revival or reboot heading to Hulu, as the new “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is also slated for the streamer. At this point, there’s no information available about when filming for the new “Scrubs” will begin or when it might premiere.
