The revamped team known as “Thunderbolts,” now called “New Avengers,” remains strong and appears to have good staying power, with the film still surpassing the domestic performance of “Captain America: Brave New World” as it progresses.

Previously discussed, Thunderbolts have been surpassing Cap 4 by nearly 50% in their daily performance figures. This pattern persists and even strengthened by Monday.

Thunderbolts Outperforms Cap 4 By 80%

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that on its 18th day, my favorite flick, Thunderbolts, raked in an impressive $1,884,215 – a figure that left me quite impressed! For contrast, Captain America: Brave New World earned a respectable $1,032,239 on the same day. This means that Thunderbolts outperformed its competition by a whopping 80% or more! The cinematic world is truly alive with the sound of Thunderbolts’ box office success!

Over the past 18 days, Thunderbolts has earned approximately $157.4 million domestically, while Cap 4 made around $164.6 million initially. However, Cap 4 had a bigger opening, but Thunderbolts is swiftly closing the gap and is expected to reach Cap 4’s domestic box office of $200 million soon.

It’s been the case since Day 5 that Thunderbolts has surpassed Captain 4 in performance, as evidenced by the growing disparity depicted in the graph above, with Thunderbolts showing stronger momentum.

Discount Tuesday Could Boost Thunderbolts

Discount Tuesday is coming up tomorrow, which could provide an additional boost. On its 19th day, Cap 4 earned $1,551,038, but Thunderbolts surpassed that figure on Monday alone.

If Thunderbolts maintains strong box office performance, it’s likely to surpass Cap 4 and potentially earn approximately $230 million domestically, with a possibility of reaching up to $240 million if it gains significant momentum in ticket sales.

Thunderbolts Trails Cap 4 in Foreign Box Office

In a parallel development, Cap 4 has amassed $214.6 million from foreign sales, whereas Thunderbolts is currently sitting at $170.7 million. To surpass the international box office earnings of Cap 4, The New Avengers will need to significantly boost their performance in international markets.

Captain America: Brave New World has a $415.1 million worldwide gross. It hits Disney+ next week.

Can Thunderbolts Hit $450 Million?

Should Thunderbolts miraculously manage to reach a $450 million mark, it would truly be something extraordinary – a figure often referred to as the break-even point.

I actually think the break-even number is higher, but that is what is being reported.

Marvel needs a win going into Avengers: Doomsday. Fantastic Four seems to be on iffy ground, too.
