Tomb Raider Series Not Canceled: Sophie Turner Jacked As Lara Croft

It’s possible that the live-action Tomb Raider series on Amazon is still in development, given that photographs have emerged showing Sophie Turner, who appears to be in excellent physical condition with a muscular build, potentially fitting for the character of Lara Croft.

Tomb Raider is still happening

As per a recent update from Variety, the team responsible for the series has renewed their contract and is now actively working on the upcoming Tomb Raider live-action television series that Amazon is planning with its creator, Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The company is known for transforming video games and unconventional intellectual properties into TV shows and movies.

Apart from being involved in the Netflix animated series “Tomb Raider”, they’re also working on developing Season 2. Other video game adaptations they are currently engaged in include “ToeJam and Earl” and “It Takes Two”, with Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions collaborating on the latter project as well.

Tomb Raider reportedly canceled

According to two separate pieces of information, it was stated that the ‘Tomb Raider’ series, which Phoebe Waller-Bridge was working on, is not in development.

Despite Amazon parting ways with Jennifer Salke as head of their studio, rumors emerged that the Phoebe Waller-Bridge-led Tomb Raider series might have been cancelled.

Well, apparently it’s not.

Sophie Turner jacked

Sophie Turner, famous for her role as Sansa Stark on “Game of Thrones”, has reportedly been chosen to star as Lara Croft in the title role. Recently, she was seen enjoying time at a friend’s bachelorette party away from home.

An image shows Turner sporting a six-pack with a pair of guns.

According to her IMDb, the Tomb Raider series is actually in production.

Sophie Turner’s other projects

Sophie Turner is reportedly working on two more upcoming projects as well. One of them, titled “The Dreadful,” is currently in production and follows the life of Anne, played by Turner, and her mother-in-law Morwen who live a secluded, difficult existence on society’s fringe. However, when a man from their past reappears, he triggers a chain of events that will serve as a pivotal moment for Anne. Kit Harington is also part of the cast in this production.

Turner is reportedly working on the pre-production of the sci-fi film titled “Cloud One”. This movie tells the story of a man who regains consciousness with amnesia, finds himself in a virtual reality rehabilitation center, and develops feelings for a digital woman. As events progress, the boundaries between reality and simulation become increasingly blurred, leading to intricate relationships that span both physical and virtual worlds. The film also features Boyd Holbrook as one of its stars.

Tomb Raider details at Amazon

Previously, it was announced that Phoebe Waller-Bridge (from ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’) is involved in scriptwriting and taking on a producer role for the Tomb Raider series.

The series is reportedly penned by Megan McDonnell, a writer recognized for her work on “The Marvels”, “WandaVision”, and Marvel’s “Agatha” series. Additionally, it has been stated that McDonnell is both the story editor and consulting producer for this project.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge also previously talked about discussing the look of Lara Croft:

Initially, she maintained a certain demeanor and was quite determined in her actions. However, things shifted significantly once they recognized the potential to promote her as a sex symbol. Being labeled as a “Tomb Raider,” she’s extraordinarily athletic, often needing to navigate through narrow rock fissures. The sensation of passing through a small rock crevice is noticeably distinct depending on whether one has larger or smaller breasts.

She was always herself and knew what she wanted. Everything changed when they started marketing her as a sex symbol because of the Tomb Raider role. As a Tomb Raider, she’s super fit and often needs to squeeze through tight spaces. The feeling of squeezing through small spaces is different depending on breast size.
