Hyacine’s trailer points to Trailblazer VA change in Honkai: Star Rail

In the upcoming update 3.3 for Honkai: Star Rail, scheduled to go live after server maintenance concludes, there may be a somewhat contentious alteration: the voices of the characters Trailblazers will be replaced by new actors.

In the preview for the new character, Hyacine, a masculine voice is heard pleading desperately from the 57-second mark, urgently asking Hyacine to aid him in combatting Netherwing within the Forgotten Hall, which serves as the endgame setting in HSR.

Different from Hyacine and Cipher’s voices heard in the video, this one doesn’t have a credit and seems unlike any familiar character. Interestingly, the voice appears at the same time as messages from “Galactic Baseballer,” a user known for their Trailblazer symbol – a trashcan avatar. This coincidence, along with the cryptic comment about Forgotten Hall, the enigmatic tone, and the secrecy surrounding it, has sparked speculation among fans that this might be the introduction of Caelus’ new voice in the storyline, as he is known as the male Trailblazer in canon.

In other languages, it’s the male Trailblazer’s voice that’s heard here, yet, just like in our language, the voice actors who portray him don’t receive credit. This situation lends support to both sides of the argument.

Based on what’s presented in the trailer, it seems likely that we might hear the voice of Caelus, but it didn’t seem to be Caleb Yen, his current voice actor. Since no official word has been given by any parties involved, this is all we can confidently assert at the moment.

For several months now, neither Caelus nor Stelle have spoken due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that’s ongoing. Studios linked with HoYoverse have been pushing harder to substitute voice actors unwilling to work this year, resulting in changes in voice casts for Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero.

Supporters of HSR find themselves both anxious and thrilled about comparable initiatives. On one side, they adore the authentic voices of the characters and dread the thought of them being changed; however, on the flip side, it’s been challenging for them to accept the noticeably inferior gameplay experience with silent main characters. Consequently, the prospect of Trailblazer being voiced once more – regardless of who does it – has been a highly anticipated desire among many fans.

In most cases, HoYoverse does not publicly announce Voice Actors (VA) swaps, but they do mention any changes in the patch notes when they occur. Therefore, once the patch notes for HSR 3.3 are released, we can expect confirmation regarding any potential VA changes.
