As a devoted cinephile, I’d rephrase it like this: A decade ago, a devastating earthquake wreaked havoc on Japan’s mainland, leaving Tokyo in ruins and three-quarters of the city underwater. Fast forward to now, the narrative unfolds around Ganta Igarashi, an unassuming student at Nagano Prefecture College.
Despite having survived the earthquake, Ganta has no recollection of the disaster and has led an unremarkable life. However, this routine existence is abruptly disrupted when a man drenched in blood and adorned in purple armor appears outside his classroom windows. The Red Man, whose grin suggests insanity, massacres Ganta’s entire class, but instead of killing him, he implants a shard of red gemstone into his chest.

20. Fate/stay night
Original Run: January 7, 2006 – June 17, 2006
Number of Episodes: 24
As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I’d put it this way: In the heart-pounding tale of The Holy Grail War, set amidst the bustling streets of Fuyuki, Japan, seven Masters engage in an epic battle royale. Armed with their extraordinary magical abilities and summoned Servants, the last one standing will gain access to the fabled Grail, granting them the power to fulfill their most cherished dream. The captivating storyline of FATE serves as the initial, engaging scenario, making it a fan favorite.
The tale centers on Shiro and his Servant, Saber. Throughout this narrative, Shiro remains steadfast in his convictions, choosing to uphold them despite facing contradictions with reality. To many viewers, Shiro appears as a young character in this context. The initial 2006 anime series produced by Studio Deen predominantly follows this storyline, but it also incorporates minor aspects from the other two.
Datto Nishiwaki’s manga combines elements from this storyline with that of Unlimited Blate Works. You can reach Unlimited Blade Works after completing the FATE storyline, which means Saber cannot attack Archer. Alternatively, you can access this story by not collaborating with Rin in FATE, but this outcome is unfavorable. The narrative primarily revolves around Rin, Shirō, and Archer. In this story, we delve deeper into Archer’s past, which was previously unknown in the initial scenario.
In this situation, Shirou develops proficiency in his skills and overcomes multiple opponents, including Servants. This experience makes him significantly less innocent, yet he remains steadfast in upholding his principles. To purists, he appears as a young adult, straddling the line between adolescence and childhood.

18. Fate/Apocrypha
Original Run: July 2, 2017 – December 30, 2017
Number of Episodes: 25
In my perspective as a cinephile, I’d say: “Stepping into an alternate universe of ‘Fate/stay night’, we find ourselves in a world where Einzbern summoned the Ruler instead of Avenger during the Third Holy Grail War. Consequently, the sacred artifact was whisked away from Fuyuki to Romania post-conflict. This means that the events depicted in ‘Fate/Zero’ and ‘Fate/stay night’ never transpired. The narrative then unfolds around a power struggle between two factions – the Reds and the Blacks – each backed by seven Servants, while a unique Ruler-class servant is summoned to oversee this Holy War as it is orchestrated by the Grail itself.
In this new epoch of the Holy Grail War, the Red faction comprises mages dispatched by the Clock Tower Mages Guild, while the Black faction consists of the powerful Yggdmillennia family of mages from Romania. Prepare for an epic conflict like never before, as a massive battle is poised to ensue.

The anime narrates the story of the Falcon Troop’s rise and decline, focusing on the intricate bond between Guts and Griffith. This relationship is marked by a mix of strategic use (Griffith leverages Guts), mutual admiration (they both regard each other as comrades), and an unexplainable emotional attachment (each feels an inexplicable need for the other’s presence).
12. InuYasha
From October 16, 2000 to September 13, 2004, and then from October 3, 2009 to March 29, 2010, I was a dedicated fan of this show that spanned across 167 episodes initially, with an additional 26 episodes in a later run.
In feudal Japan, prior to the year 1600, the country was often embroiled in warfare and was commonly referred to as the Sengoku period. During this turbulent time, humans coexisted with supernatural beings known as Youkai or Mononoke, which are often translated as demons, monsters, or spirits. These beings exhibited a wide range of abilities and appearances, but they all shared one common trait: an intense envy for human flesh.
They frequently raid the villages because of this, causing great fear among humans lest one of these invaders targets their own. Inu-Yasha, you see, is a unique entity, being both half-demon and half-human.
One day, an individual launches an assault on the village guarding the Shikon Jewel, seizes it, and flees. The Shikon Jewel (also known as Shikon No Tama) is imbued with extraordinary abilities, amplifying the powers of any demon who controls it. Inu-Yasha, however, intends to harness this power to metamorphose into a complete demon.

1. Fate/zero
Original Run: October 1, 2011 – June 23, 2012
Number of Episodes: 25
As a passionate movie buff, I’d put it this way: Ten years prior to the events of Fate/stay night, I find myself transported back in time to witness a grand spectacle known as the Holy Grail War. This epic contest pits seven powerful mages, each chosen by the enigmatic Holy Grail, against one another. Their mission? To summon and command seven legendary spirits, or Servants, in a brutal battle royale that continues until only one Master remains standing. With three previous wars under our belts, the stage is set for a fourth fierce confrontation. The mages, their hearts pounding with anticipation and hope for victory, are racing to Fuyuki, the chosen battleground, where the true test of magic and will begins.
Without a doubt, winning the Holy Grail gives one the power to make their most cherished dream come true. Out of the seven adepts, Kirei Kotomine appears uninterested in acquiring this Holy Grail, whereas Kiritsugu Emiya is determined to seize it with every fiber of his being. The intense rivalry between these two individuals, along with the battles among Masters and Servants, serves as the core of the narrative.
This narrative delves into the authentic events of the Fourth Holy Grail War, a conflict that occurred a decade prior to the renowned Fate/stay night video game, and which had previously been hinted at in pieces. The tale will illuminate the battle involving Kiritsugu Emiya, the adoptive father of Shirō and central figure of this narrative, Tokiomi Tohsaka, Rin’s father, and the young Kirei Kotomine, the principal adversary.
