Conclave Star Ralph Fiennes Joins The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping As President Snow

In the upcoming “The Hunger Games” film titled “Sunrise at the Reaping,” actor Ralph Fiennes has been cast as President Coriolanus Snow. This is the sixth movie in the popular franchise and is set to hit theaters on November 20, 2026.

In his mature years, Fiennes is set to portray President Snow. Known for his critically acclaimed roles, he has been recognized with both Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his work in “Conclave.” Additionally, he graces the screen in Danny Boyle’s production, “28 Years Later.

In the new story, the character Fiennes portrays is about four decades older than his portrayal in “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”. The timeline for this character’s narrative is positioned two decades before the rise of Katniss Everdeen.

In the role of Snow, Donald Sutherland portrayed that aspect as well. For the younger version, it was none other than Tom Blyth who took on that character in the 2023 prequel. Fiennes delivers a unique interpretation of the powerful ruler of Panem.

Francis Lawrence will take charge once more, as he has directed all films in the series since 2012’s Catching Fire. In an interview with Variety, producer Nina Jacobson revealed, “We chose to pay tribute to Donald Sutherland by casting one of today’s finest actors as President Snow, 24 years before Katniss Everdeen stepped into the arena.

Speaking from the heart, I’ve longed to collaborate with Ralph ever since his masterful performance in Schindler’s List left an indelible mark on me. Now, it’s nothing short of exhilarating to extend this invitation for him to join us in The Hunger Games.

In this production, Ralph Fiennes takes on the role of President Snow, Joseph Zada stars as Haymitch Abernathy, Whitney Peak portrays Lenore Dove Baird, McKenna Grace is cast for Maysilee Donner, and Jesse Plemons appears as Plutarch Heavensbee. Maya Hawke, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Lili Taylor (as Mags), and Ben Wang are also part of the movie’s ensemble.
