Previously this year, it was revealed that a longtime cast member of “The Simpsons” decided to retire from the show. For over 35 years, Pamela Hayden has lent her voice to numerous characters on the animated series, including the well-known and beloved Milhouse Van Houten. However, as Hayden moves on from Springfield, USA, her characters will remain. Now we have learned that Kelly Macleod, a singer, will be stepping into the role of Milhouse for the first time during the season 36 finale of “The Simpsons”. Interestingly, in her debut performance, she will portray a much older version of the character.
According to Entertainment Weekly, The Simpsons has chosen Macleod to play the role of Milhouse moving forward. She’ll make her debut as Springfield’s brainy character, Milhouse, on Sunday, May 18, during the show’s season finale titled “Estranger Things.” The episode synopsis hints at potential trouble for Bart and Lisa when they stop watching Itchy & Scratchy together. Marge may worry about their growing distance, but things are set to get even worse! In her first appearance as Milhouse, Macleod won’t have many lines; she will only speak during a scene featuring older versions of Bart, Lisa, and Milhouse.
It’s quite challenging to have an additional level of complexity during your initial workday, especially on your first assignment at the Milhouse beat. Macleod, who made her debut in “The Simpsons” last year in 2022’s “Bart the Cool Kid,” where she sang “Two Badges, One Mind.
It’s uncertain whether Macleod will assume any other roles of Hayden’s apart from Milhouse in the future, but it has been confirmed that Jimbo Jones was recast in The Simpsons. Mo Collins now portrays the bully character earlier this season. As long as Collins’ version of Jimbo keeps distance from Macleod’s version of Milhouse, we’re content. Although there may be a different voice actor for him, our fondness for the goofball remains unchanged.
