Background on Pocahontas – In the 1995 film “Pocahontas,” we meet our title character who is the Disney princess that embodies this story. The plot centers around the Native American community and their interactions with the English colonizers from the old world. As the tale unfolds, Pocahontas develops romantic feelings for the English settler named John Smith, who reciprocates her affection. Unfortunately, the actions of the settlers ignite a conflict between the Native Americans and the newcomers, ultimately leading to a war. Consequently, both Pocahontas and John Smith work together to devise a strategy to prevent further loss of life on both sides.
8. Mulan

Did you know this trivia? Both Elsa and Anna from Frozen aren’t officially recognized as Disney princesses for the same reason. Interestingly, they were both initially presented as royal figures, with Elsa being a queen rather than a princess.

As a movie critic, I stumbled upon an intriguing tidbit during my analysis of Moana: it turns out that the listed height of 7’6″ for our heroine was estimated based on the height of her rooster companion, Heihei! It seems that Disney has yet to correct this anomaly, leading many to believe that Moana towers over NBA centers just as tall.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share some insights about myself and one of my favorite characters – Raya, the courageous protagonist from “Raya and the Last Dragon,” which graced our screens in 2021. Though unofficially, Raya made history as the first Disney princess hailing from Southeast Asia, a significant milestone that I’m proud to witness. Interestingly, she shares this distinction with only one other character of Asian heritage within Disney films.
“Raya and the Last Dragon” is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where a catastrophic plague turned most humans into stone statues, and dragons ceased to exist.
