Jacob Elordi, Lily-Rose Depp Join Forces for Cormac McCarthy’s Adaptation of Outer Dark; DEETS About Upcoming Project

Actors Jacob Elordi from “The Kissing Booth” and Lily-Rose Depp are slated to appear in an upcoming movie adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s “Outer Dark,” a novel written in 1948. Production on this project is scheduled for 2026, marking the English cinema debut for Academy Award-winning director Laszlo Nemes.

The movie’s plot centers on a young woman during the Great Depression, who gives birth to her brother’s child. After delivering the baby, her brother abandons it in the forest, leading her to believe it passed away naturally.

Once she uncovers the truth, the woman embarks on a journey to locate the infant. Meanwhile, as the siblings disperse into the wilderness, there are three malicious individuals hot on their heels, intent on causing harm.

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, the filmmaker shared his long-held passion for transforming “Outer Dark” into a movie, stating, “Ever since my initial reading, this project has been a dream of mine. I’ve yearned to find the perfect cinematic style to capture Cormac McCarthy’s enchantingly cosmic narrative justly. With two captivating actors on board, I now believe we can make it a reality.

Additionally, he expressed, “The exceptional source material serves as a deep inspiration to create a world that pulsates with both life and death simultaneously. This project aims to be an exhilarating road trip, a haunting yet beautiful exploration into the intricate maze of human spirit – this is the vision I hold for Outer Dark.

As a devoted follower of the arts, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve just finished working on my third film, titled “Orphan.” This intriguing piece is slated for premiere during this ongoing festival. Notably, Cormac McCarthy’s adaptations, notably “No Country for Old Men” and “The Road,” have garnered immense appreciation from the audience, setting high expectations for my own work in the same genre.
