As a gamer delving into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, if you can’t find the starting point for the Brushes with Death DLC expansion, it means either you’re not yet in the right game region or your character hasn’t advanced far enough in the storyline to access it. Unlike hunting down all the Brunswick armor locations, the Brushes with Death DLC isn’t accessible from the start of the open world. Instead, it’s hidden behind a certain level of narrative progression, as key events in the story can only unfold once specific mid-game areas have been unlocked.
To get you started, I’ll guide you through playing the ‘Brushes with Death’ expansion for KCD2 and reveal where the initial mission is situated, along with any prerequisites in the game that must be met for the quest to become accessible.
How to play the Brushes with Death DLC in KCD2
To enjoy the Brushes with Death DLC in KCD2, make sure you advance the main story first. You should finish the “For Whom the Bell Tolls” quest at Trosky Castle before accessing this additional content.
After finishing that task and the castle becomes open for exploration, a new quest marker will appear on your Trosky map. It is located southeast of Trosky Castle and to the west of Apollonia, as indicated by the image above. This distinctive purple marker stands out from everything else on the map; follow it, and you’ll find a figure tied to a tree. Approaching this spot will initiate a cutscene and begin your journey in the Brushes with Death questline.
If you’ve finished the game or are currently in the Kuttenberg region, which is part of the second half of the campaign, you should return to the initial region to begin the DLC. In case you’re uncertain about how to travel back, we have a guide on navigating your way back to previous regions in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. However, keep in mind that you’ll need around 200 Groschen for the journey.
