Grey’s Anatomy Actor FINALLY Watches Medical Drama After 20 Years; Find Out What She Thinks of It

After spending twenty years playing Dr. Miranda Bailey on Grey’s Anatomy, Chandra Wilson has found some spare moments to revisit the series that brought her widespread recognition. Lately, the actress has shared insights about her viewing experience and why she feels it’s time for her to reconnect with the show now.

As a dedicated follower myself, during my one-on-one chat with PEOPLE prior to the Disney 2025 Upfront event, Sofia Wilson (age 55) confided that she dived into this intriguing series while stuck at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She managed to reach season 3 before her work commitments called. “I paused, and since then, I haven’t picked it up again,” she admitted. “It seems about time, doesn’t it? I feel compelled to catch up on what they’ve been discussing.

Among the original cast members, only Wilson and James Pickens Jr., playing Dr. Richard Webber, are consistently featured on the show. Surprisingly, after all these years, Wilson expresses no desire to depart, mainly because she still enjoys portraying Bailey. “I find joy in breathing life into her. I appreciate showing various aspects of her character. I enjoy that her hairstyle is always changing.

Alongside emphasizing the cooperative nature and lasting vigor of the show, Wilson remarked, “It’s truly thrilling, and if they continue to invite us, we’re more than ready to join in.” With season 22 set for a fall debut and episode 450 on the horizon, Wilson mentioned that the team started celebrating this significant milestone last year.

Wilson eagerly anticipates carrying on the adventure with a group she refers to as her family, as she’s unsure of what Season 22 holds. “I’m always thrilled that we get to carry on telling these stories,” she expressed. Perhaps now, she’ll be able to witness firsthand the events unfolding, just like the fans have been doing for the past two decades.
