Krysten Ritter Returns as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again Season Two!

The comeback of Marvel characters from Netflix, such as Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, Jon Bernthal, and others in the show Daredevil: Born Again, was a delightful surprise. Although it was assumed that these series had been removed from continuity, we knew Daredevil and Punisher could potentially appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. However, it raised the question as to why more heroes and villains weren’t included? Since they all reside in New York City. For season two of Born Again, we received one answer! Actress Krysten Ritter will join the series, reprising her role as the beloved hero Jessica Jones.

This news originates from The Hollywood Reporter. As they’ve shared, Marvel confirmed Ritter’s return during their segment of Disney’s advertisers’ call on Tuesday. You might remember Ritter as the actress who played the title character, a superpowered private investigator, in Jessica Jones for three seasons, spanning 2015 to 2019. She also starred in The Defenders, a team-up series that ran for one season.

The initial season of the series and Ritter’s acting received instant praise for its outstanding quality. Following seasons failed to recreate the same enchantment, and The Defenders, despite having a “superhero team on television” feel, didn’t quite live up to expectations. However, when the first season of Born Again concluded with the hint of Daredevil’s team confronting Wilson Fisk’s corrupt mayorship, viewers began discussing the possibility of other Netflix characters making an appearance.

As a passionate movie critic, I find myself constantly on the lookout for intriguing developments in the Marvel universe. In an interview with THR, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s mastermind of television and animation, skillfully danced around questions regarding the potential return of Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Danny Rand. Instead, he chose to emphasize the importance of patience and storytelling. In his words, “It’s all about not hurrying and crafting the best narrative. The thrill of seeing characters intermingle is undeniable, but it’s the ‘whys’ that truly matter. At times, we’ve excelled in this area, at other times, we’ve rushed. The tale must guide our steps.

Although Colter’s Luke Cage received positive responses, Jones’ Iron Fist did not. It’s conceivable that neither, both, or just Luke Cage could appear in Born Again. Jones has expressed interest in reprising his character, so we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, viewers can look forward to Ritter and Jessica Jones meeting the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen again on TV.
