It’s been reported that a Rolex watch, once owned by the late Liam Payne from One Direction, has apparently turned up for sale on the underground market. According to RadarOnline, this high-end timepiece, potentially valued at around USD 60,000, was allegedly put up for grabs by a prominent Rolex dealer to a watch collector.
The watch you receive includes an authenticity certificate and a unique serial number, supposedly connecting it specifically to Payne. However, contrary to what the vendor stated, there’s no confirmed evidence that Liam Payne had a legally binding will, suggesting he didn’t pass on this watch through one.
Tragically, Liam Payne passed away on October 16, 2024, following a fall from a hotel balcony on the third floor in Buenos Aires. He was only 31 years old. As per UK inheritance laws due to intestacy, his entire estate, estimated at around USD 32.2 million, has been legally passed down to his young son, Bear, who is currently 8 years old.
The British court has given custody over Payne’s estate to Cheryl Tweedy, who is also Bear’s mother. Since there seems to be no will, the law dictates that any assets would legally belong to their son Bear first, with Cheryl Cole serving as his guardian, according to a source familiar with the situation, speaking to RadarOnline.
The report establishes that Cheryl Tweedy did not participate in the attempted transaction to sell a Rolex; instead, sources have emphasized that she has neither approved nor authorized the distribution or sale of any personal items from Payne’s assets. One source expressed concern over the questionable legality and unethical nature of these actions, stating: “What’s unfolding here is not only legally dubious, it’s deeply immoral.
Either this property should be given to Bear or it ought to be auctioned off publicly through a charity event, not secretly for personal advantage. The individual attempting to sell the watch is yet unknown by authorities, but there’s speculation that they might be someone connected to the deceased singer.
It’s possible that the watch found later could be the same one Payne was spotted wearing just prior to his demise. Regrettably, this particular watch was not found in his hotel room after he passed away. Autopsy results indicated that Payne had cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack in his system during the unfortunate event.
If it can be confirmed that this person is the one buying the Rolex, and it’s clear that Cheryl has no part in it, it could lead to a major legal dispute. Meanwhile, Cheryl appears to be planning to delay Bear’s access to his inheritance until he turns 25, giving him time to make wise financial decisions.
