53-year-old Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, well known for playing a taxi driver in Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart, tragically passed away suddenly.
On April 11, Pelletier sadly breathed his last, all by himself, in his residence located in Langley, British Columbia. His demise brought about sorrow among his colleagues and even those who collaborated with his work team on the respective series.
Known for his dedication, charm, and compassion, Pelletier was admired not just on the set but also off it, according to People. Colleagues and friends recall his habit of often helping others without being asked, and always greeting everyone with a warm and friendly demeanor. His vibrant personality left a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to be in his company.
One key element in Pelletier’s life was his daughter, Myhrsades (Murray) Jones, as stated in his obituary. He often delighted her with concert tickets and travel opportunities, cherishing her passion for adventure and music. Moreover, his fondness for music significantly influenced the musical preferences of those close to him.
Apart from acting in front of the camera, Pelletier played an essential part behind the scenes as well, within the show’s transportation team. This role brought him close connections with his coworkers, and he developed strong friendships with them. Among these relationships, his bond with transport captain Gordon Alyward stood out as particularly special. On set, he considered this group to be like a second family to him.
Besides his passion for science, Pelletier enjoyed activities like cooking, baking, penning poems, and hosting friends and relatives at home. His abode was known as a cozy and inviting space, where people of all ages felt comfortable and valued.
In the heart of who I am as a fan, I can’t help but share that this extraordinary soul not only possessed a passion for culinary arts, whipping up scrumptious cookies, bars, and more, but also delighted in hosting gatherings filled with laughter and love among friends and family. His unique handwriting graced countless poems that still echo today. His home, a beacon of warmth and welcome, stood ever-open to all ages, young and old. I’ve been fortunate to witness him showering affection from his balcony, a hug in the air for those who passed by. This touching detail was beautifully included in his obituary.
People who worked with him deeply missed him after his passing, recalling how his uplifting demeanor and cheerful attitude brightened even the toughest workdays. His absence on set was felt as indispensable, and he was considered a unique, exceptional individual whose influence positively impacted everyone around him.
