What happened in Season 1?
In the first season of “Peacemaker,” John Cena’s character, Christopher Smith or Peacemaker, heals from his wounds incurred during “The Suicide Squad” and is compelled to join a secret A.R.G.U.S. operation called “Project Butterfly.” This assignment requires him to locate and destroy alien lifeforms known as Butterflies, which have taken up residence within human bodies.
During the entire season, Peacemaker undergoes a moral dilemma, wrestling with the repercussions of his choices and his unwavering dedication to attaining peace no matter what. Along the way, he develops friendships with his fellow team members—Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), and the quirky Vigilante (Freddie Stroma)—who together go by “the 11th Street Kids.
The story explores the complex bond between Peacemaker and his father, Auggie Smith, portrayed by Robert Patrick, who is a white supremacist and a retired supervillain.
Or simply:
The tale unfolds the intricate dynamics between Peacemaker and his father, Auggie Smith (Robert Patrick), a former supervillain turned white supremacist.
As a cinephile, I found myself at the heart of an exhilarating showdown against the Butterflies in the final act. This confrontation pushed me, Peacemaker, to a critical juncture where I had to question deeply-rooted beliefs about tranquility and aggression – my long-cherished notions of peace and war. The climax also brought unexpected appearances from Justice League legends, offering an intriguing twist in the tale’s resolution. However, with Gunn revitalizing the DC Universe, this particular scene no longer aligns with the official continuity.
