John has managed to escape from the High Table, but his death is suggested through a gravestone. However, there are strong signs that he’s not really dead. A scene after the credits reveals more tension for his enemy Caine, suggesting a future spinoff series for this character. Following the announcement of “John Wick 5”, it seems almost certain that Keanu Reeves will return as our beloved skilled assassin once more.

As a die-hard cinephile, I can’t help but wonder what lies ahead for the legendary John Wick now that he’s fully liberated. Could there be more hidden truths and turmoil brewing in his life, ready to unfold in the next installment? Here’s the scoop on John Wick 5 as we currently know it.

Title

Currently, the movie is known as “John Wick 5”. However, it might be called “John Wick: Chapter 5” or another title later on, but given that this film is taking a new path, the former seems unlikely at this point.

John Wick 5’s Plot

During an interview with Empire, director Chad Stahelski explained that this upcoming sequel’s storyline will deviate from previous ones as it won’t focus on the High Table. Given that the narrative concluded in the fourth movie, this change seems fitting.

According to Stahelski, the story of John Wick has essentially come to an end. Consequently, any further film (such as the fifth one) can only be made by introducing a new plotline featuring John Wick. It won’t be a continuation with the High Table. John has moved past his grief. The upcoming movie is expected to be quite different, and viewers will likely react with something like, “Wow! I need to see that!

In simpler terms, what you’re asking is, “What’s the explanation for this?” And my response would be, “We’ll find out more about that.” This statement is intriguing given that Keanu Reeves announced John’s death in March 2025 earlier.

Staelski additionally mentioned that the upcoming Under the High Table TV series and an animated spin-off movie about John Wick giving up his assassin ways will serve as precursors to John Wick 5. In other words, we can speculate that instead of killing people, perhaps John has transitioned into training others for a significant mission or maybe he runs a dog shelter and embarks on a heartwarming romantic journey with his neighbor. Whatever the case may be, we’re certainly intrigued!

John Wick 5’s Cast

At present, Keanu Reeves as John Wick is the only confirmed cast member. The upcoming spinoff featuring Caine might bring additional characters into play. Since Winston is connected to the High Table, there’s a chance Ian McShane may appear in this movie, but it’s not certain. The Bowery King, being Wick’s friend, is expected to return. More of Laurence Fishburne would be delightful to see in this film.
