Microsoft unveiled “Gears of War: Reloaded,” an enhanced edition of the original series game, which is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025. On the same day, it will be accessible through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Additionally, any Xbox users who previously owned the digital version of “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” prior to May 5, 2025, will receive a complimentary upgrade to “Reloaded.
The remastered version of Gears of War, titled Gears of War: Reloaded, offers cross-platform compatibility for gameplay and progress, runs at 120 frames per second and 4K resolution. Developers The Coalition, Sumo Interactive, and Disbelief have collaborated to deliver the most comprehensive version of the original game yet. Essentially, this means that Reloaded will include all extra content from the Ultimate Edition such as the bonus campaign, multiplayer maps and modes, customization options, and progression systems.
Players have the option to engage with their team either through a split-screen on the same device or by playing together online. The campaign of the Rebooted edition will allow two players to participate cooperatively, whereas multiplayer battles can accommodate as many as eight participants.
Microsoft highlighted that a Microsoft account isn’t necessary for playing multiplayer games, but it is required to unlock the complete set of cross-progression benefits if one wishes to play across multiple devices. Additionally, signing in is essential for sending invitations to users on different platforms.
