Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 & 4 have been released, offering stunning re-creations of numerous levels from two highly-acclaimed games in the franchise, along with some exclusive new levels unique to this edition. Each level is packed with a variety of tasks to accomplish and hidden surprises for players to uncover.
In the remade version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, the third level is called Suburbia, and it falls between the Foundry and Canada stages in terms of size. This stage offers relatively simple challenges, but it introduces more vertical elements, which might require careful timing when playing against the standard 2-minute timer.
For your convenience, we’ve created a comprehensive guide covering all the obstacles found in Suburbia levels within Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4. Additionally, this guide provides tips on locating the hidden cassette and other valuable items scattered throughout these levels.
THPS 3+4 Suburbia: All challenge solutions
In Suburbia and many stages, several tasks require minimal explanation. These include achieving high scores through stunts and combos (referred to as ‘high score challenges’) and collecting SKATE letters. The SKATE letters are usually visible from the start of the level, so once you’ve found the ‘S’, it should be a straightforward journey to find the rest of them.
Nosegrab Between the Ramps
Outside the large, spooky mansion in Suburbia lies a compact skatepark with wooden ramps. To execute a transfer between two of the quarterpipes here, you should perform a nosegrab by pressing the up and grab buttons simultaneously. Although it’s somewhat challenging due to its tight jump, you may find that enhancing your speed, ollie, or airtime abilities will help you pull it off successfully. However, it isn’t overly complicated.
Help the Thin Man
In front of the spooky mansion’s garage stands a frail, slim individual, barricaded by some wooden planks. He requires your assistance to move past them. Fortunately, the task is straightforward; all you need is an axe to make things easier for him.
To retrieve the axe, make your way to the construction site where you’ll notice its conspicuous wooden frames. Inside one of the houses under construction, you’ll find the axe. Return it to the thin man, and then prepare yourself for a bizarre spectacle – one of the most peculiar scenes in the game.
Restore Power to the Dish
To successfully restore power to the satellite dish, a proper balance in grinding is essential. You’ll find slopes behind several houses that provide access to the rooftops, and it’s important to note that these rooftops are connected by power lines.
To effectively restore power to the satellite dish, you need a good balance when grinding (adjusting the angle of your tool). There are ramps behind some houses leading to the rooftops, where you’ll find powerlines connecting them together.
Observe that some power lines have branches growing from them. To eliminate these branches, you’ll need to grind along these lines. There are a total of four branches (two per line) on the two lines with branches, so it will require some grinding. It can be challenging due to the amount of grinding required, but improving your grind balance stat or enabling the game mod for it should make the task much easier.
Squash 5 Pumpkins
To sum up, the most straight-forward task in Suburbia involves smashing 5 pumpkins. These are brightly glowing jack-o’-lanterns spread across the map, and they’re quite simple to locate. A few can be found in front of houses, one is situated in the garden of the haunted mansion, and yet another rests atop a fence near an empty pool. It couldn’t be more straightforward.
THPS 3+4 Suburbia: How to get the secret tape
To obtain the hidden video cassette in Suburbia, you must first accomplish the “Assist the Slim Gentleman” mission because it grants access to the haunted mansion. Make your way through the garage and into the mansion’s backyard, then ascend the large ramp that leads to the second floor. Break through the window on the opposite side, followed by a quick grind along a short railing to snatch the hidden tape.
THPS 3+4 Suburbia: Iron Galaxy logo location
In the town of Suburbia, the Iron Galaxy emblem also needs access to the spooky manor. Upon entering the manor’s backyard, you’ll notice a halfpipe on your left which can be utilized for a succession of jumps leading upwards, toward the roof. Once atop the roof, the Iron Galaxy logo becomes visible and straightforward to reach — simply slow down a bit as it’s simple to overshoot and soar away.
THPS 3+4 Suburbia: Secret deck location
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve come across quite a few hidden gems in games, but the secret deck in Suburbia stands out as one of the less elusive ones. It’s perched atop a quarterpipe on the second floor of that half-built house, not exactly blending with the surroundings. To get there, simply use the side ramps to ascend to the second floor, then propel yourself up the quarterpipe effortlessly and snatch the secret deck!
