As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some insights from Isabela Merced, the talented actress behind Dina in The Last of Us Season 2. In a recent conversation, she opened up about the careful consideration and preparation that went into the romantic scenes between her character, Dina, and Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey. Furthermore, she subtly hinted at some intriguing possibilities for Season 3.
For the creators of the show, ensuring a sincere and consensual intimate scene in Episode 4, Day One was a significant priority. Intimacy supervisor Kathy Kadler and director Kate Herron carefully planned the sequence, focusing on portraying vulnerability, trust, and mutual control, to make it as authentic and respectful as possible.
During a chat with Variety, Merced shared insights into the process of shooting romantic sequences alongside Ramsey, explaining that their intimacy coach ensured everything ran smoothly and provided comfort throughout.
Merced mentioned that she made everyone feel very at ease, and interestingly enough, by then, Ellie and I had been collaborating for over half the season. As a result, we both felt quite at home with each other, she added.
In a careful manner, Merced focused on crafting the scene involving both actors, aiming to accurately portray their emotional expressions. Great attention was paid to maintain balance in their interactions, regardless of their physical locations within the scene.
Regarding the emphasis placed on detail during the intimate scene, the actress commented, “I believe it demonstrates that both characters are in control and have chosen to proceed. I found it very moving, and I believe the choices made were particularly insightful.
Moving on, Merced shared that the third season will bring challenging emotional scenarios for our main characters. This upcoming chapter could significantly alter their relationship dynamics, which Merced finds intriguing creatively. Despite not knowing what lies ahead, Merced has offered suggestions about future character interplay to the team.
She mentioned that it’ll feel odd pretending not to like Bella, as I have developed a real fondness for them. It’s going to be challenging, but I can’t quite tell if Craig is aware of the situation yet, and it seems he might still be figuring things out.
According to Isabela Merced, it’s expected that the production of The Last of Us Season 3 will commence in 2026. She’s especially thrilled about Episode 7 of this season, as it presents a significant shift in the bond between Dina and Ellie.
