It is through these circumstances that Maggie Rhee returns to New York in “Dead City”‘s second season.

In this installment, she returns to The Bricks, her neighborhood situated in the Tri-State region, likely New Jersey. Maggie is making efforts to connect with her adolescent son Herschel and Ginny, who both exhibit challenging behaviors typical of post-apocalyptic teenagers (to be honest). Nevertheless, Ginny and some others are adamant about volunteering for the mission. Despite staying behind, Herschel is likely to venture out and engage in reckless behavior. It’s always amusing how headstrong youngsters can be.

This action sets her at odds with Negan, who hesitantly agrees to bring together the groups following the Dama’s news about his family being located. It’s understood that Croat’s informants outside of the island are aware of the approaching New Babylon Federation, and if not, it’s clear they would eventually reach the island.
