It’s been made clear by Prince Harry himself that it’s possible his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, may not visit their birth country because of persistent safety concerns.
After a court ruling confirmed the U.K. government’s denial of automatic police security for him, Prince Harry voiced disappointment that he couldn’t safely bring his family back with him.
The British Prince expressed to the BBC on May 2 that it’s hard for him to imagine a situation where he would bring his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children back to Britain under the present conditions. Put simply, he doesn’t foresee a scenario in which he would return his family to the U.K. at this moment.
Harry, aged 40, formerly a significant figure within the royal family and with a decade-long military background in the British Army, underlined his ongoing love for his native land. He expressed missing specific facets of the United Kingdom and reaffirmed his dedication to backing initiatives that hold significance for him.
Harry, along with Meghan, are parents to two kids – Archie who is 5 years old, and Lilibet who turns 4 this year. Harry lamented about not being able to provide his children the same kind of upbringing he had in his native land.
Harry expressed, “I truly yearn for the United Kingdom, specifically certain aspects of it. It’s genuinely disappointing that I can’t share my birthplace with my kids.
In his official statement after the court decision, Harry emphasized once more that the U.K. is deeply rooted in his identity. He mentioned his intention to carry on with his charitable endeavors and, at some point, bring his children to the country he has long known.
After resigning from their royal roles in 2020, the Sussexes now reside in Montecito, California. Despite making multiple returns to the United Kingdom, Harry’s visits have primarily been short, tightly secured, and devoid of his family’s presence.
According to the court’s verdict in May, it was decided that Harry’s security needs would be assessed individually in each instance, instead of being guaranteed. This judgement essentially shuts down one of his last possibilities for protected interactions with his whole family.
Although there’s ongoing conflict with the royal family and a court decree in place, Prince Harry has shown a wish for peace within the royal household. Nevertheless, insiders from the palace indicate that the relationship is still chilly and frozen, with minimal signs of thawing in the near future.
