In terms of iconic action series, it’s clear that “John Wick” will be remembered for a long time. Initially introduced as a daringly ambitious revenge film featuring Keanu Reeves, it transformed into one of the greatest action franchises ever made.
Although the primary series is temporarily paused, a significant spin-off film titled “Ballerina” featuring Ana de Armas is due in theaters on June 6, 2025. The film’s leading lady recently shared insights about the movie with the media.
In a heartfelt interview, Ana de Armas shared her feelings towards the film and an unexpectedly tearful incident that took place on set, involving an item not typically associated with tears.
Just as you’d anticipate, the movie “Ballerina” promises some intensely dramatic moments on-screen. Interestingly, filming one such scene turned out to be an emotionally charged experience off-camera too. As De Armas shared in an interview, it was a particularly moving moment for her.
The given scene showcases a flame thrower being utilized, specifically with the character portrayed by de Armas needing to torch another character, who is actually a stuntman. Filming this challenging sequence proved difficult for the actress. In her own words, “Even though it’s fake, I’ve never witnessed anyone burning before.
She recalled the initial day when the stunt team was rehearsing with fire, and they asked her to perform it prior to filming, to which she responded hesitantly, “No, no, no, I’m okay.” However, she ultimately consented to practice. As they brought in the main fire performer who was coated in a tacky protective substance, they instructed her, “Go ahead. Burn him.” And so she did, causing herself to cry.
In the end, she successfully captured the scene without shedding a tear. “I was fine afterwards,” de Armas said. “Afterwards, I set fire to about a hundred people. I’m grateful I had rehearsed the day before, and I cried the day before. It’s incredible to witness what [the stunt performers] accomplish – I can hardly believe you put yourselves through this. It’s astonishing.
