For a while now, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) hasn’t seen a project as successful as Deadpool & Wolverine. This movie raked in over a billion dollars and was highly appreciated for its entertaining nature. However, its most significant achievement lies in its ability to introduce the X-Men concept into the MCU.
After the blockbuster performance of the film, it’s undeniable that there will be a follow-up for Deadpool & Wolverine, whether it’s another movie or something else. Moreover, it’s highly probable that these two characters, Deadpool and Wolverine, will make appearances in upcoming Marvel productions.
Currently, Ryan Reynolds has dropped a surprising tidbit about the possible upcoming Deadpool venture. During the Time 100 summit, Reynolds was questioned about Deadpool’s future, to which he responded.
Once more, Reynolds affirmed that Deadpool thrives in a supporting role, and he also emphasized that prior to finalizing the storyline, he proposed 18 distinct concepts to Disney until they agreed with his idea.
He affirmed he’s working on something small: “I’m penning a little piece at the moment, it’s an ensemble, but… However, I appreciate its solitude. Having Deadpool join the Avengers or X-Men? That’s about as far as it goes. That’s his dream come true, you can’t bestow that upon him.”

Following the release of the movie, Ryan Reynolds expressed uncertainty about when he’d don the Deadpool persona once more. In the film, there’s a brief moment where a dying Deadpool is cradled by a tearful Thor. According to one of the writers, Paul Wernick, this scene might not reappear, but it could potentially factor into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future plots.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement when I recall a moment in November 2024, where Marvel’s mastermind, Kevin Feige, shared some tantalizing news. He mentioned that the studio was brainstorming ideas to reintroduce two iconic characters – Deadpool and Wolverine – into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future films!
In the upcoming month, Reynolds expressed some thoughts. He hinted at a potential collaboration between Deadpool and either the Avengers or the X-Men, but he stressed that this wouldn’t involve Deadpool officially becoming a member. Instead, he feels that Deadpool shines most in team-ups or supporting roles, particularly alongside Wolverine.
Reynolds mentioned his preference for not creating another film centered on Deadpool, as he feels revisiting such a central role could become monotonous.
