Approximately five years have passed since “The Old Guard” was released on Netflix, and fans have been anxiously waiting for the sequel. However, when you’re immortal, a few years mean little. Here’s where Charlize Theron shares her thoughts on reprising her role for the much-anticipated sequel – check it out!
This movie caters to various audiences: Those who appreciated the initial film, enthusiasts of the original comic books, and newcomers seeking high-octane action, realistic characters that resonate, stunning landscapes, and an international ensemble of prominent stars.
In the follow-up, character Andy faces the reality of her recently discovered mortality. Simultaneously, a fresh peril emerges that jeopardizes all she’s strived for across millennia. Renowned author Greg Rucka, previously behind Wonder Woman, is back as writer for The Old Guard 2, adapting his graphic novel series. Collaborating with him is co-screenwriter Sarah L. Walker. Taking the helm this time is Victoria Mahoney, who served as J.J. Abrams’ second unit director on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The majority of the main actors from the first “Old Guard” movie will reprise their roles in the sequel. Apart from Charlize Theron as Andy, other familiar faces include Kiki Layne as Nile Freeman, Marwan Kenzari as Joe/Yusuf Al-Kaysani, Luca Marinelli as Nicky/Nicolò di Genoa, Matthias Schoenaerts as Booker/Sebastian Le Livre, Vân Veronica Ngô as Quỳnh, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as James Copley. New additions to the cast are Henry Golding, who plays Tuah, a secretive individual investigating immortals, and Uma Thurman, whose character details remain unclear at this point. We’re excited to see how their roles unfold in the sequel!
The Old Guard 2 arrives on Netflix on July 2.
