At the London premiere of Marvel’s Thunderbolts on April 22nd, Pedro Pascal showed his support for the trans community by sporting a “Protect the Dolls” T-shirt, subtly expressing solidarity with transgender individuals and advocating for their rights.
In the context of their group, the term often refers to transgender women. After a recent UK decision stating that trans women would lose their legal recognition, Pascal made a daring step.
Three months following the signing, a new decision was made, stemming from the executive order issued by the previous U.S. President, Donald Trump. In this order, he stated that under American law, only two genders – male and female – would be acknowledged.
The actor from The Last of Us wore a T-shirt designed by Conner Ives. Upon release, this designer pledged that every penny made from sales of this shirt would be donated to the Trans Lifeline charity.
In an interview with The New York Times, Ives expressed his motivation to leverage his influence to advocate for and stand behind global transgender political matters, infusing a stylish flair. As he put it then, “In today’s world, is there anything more universally popular than a bold statement T-shirt?
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, but my connection to this vibrant group truly blossomed when my sister, Lux, courageously revealed her identity as a trans woman in 2021. At the recent Thunderbolts premiere, I proudly wore a T-shirt that echoed my support and paired it with a warm brown coat, stylish black trousers, comfortable loafers, and a bold purple baseball cap, all while keeping my identity as an ally close to heart.
1) A number of celebrities, including Troye Sivan and Pascal, have sported Ives’ T-shirts. Notably, Troye Sivan showed solidarity with the trans community by donning the T-shirt during Charli XCX’s Coachella performance. Meanwhile, Pascal graced the red carpet at the Thunderbolts premiere to support his Marvel Cinematic Universe colleagues.
He’s signed up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to portray Mr. Fantastic in the eagerly awaited Fantastic Four film, marking Marvel’s first production of this series.
