Ghost of Yotei PS5 release date revealed for October 2025

Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced the launch date for their upcoming PS5 game, Ghost of Yotei. Mark your calendars for October 2, 2025, as this exciting title will be available then. Pre-orders for the game start on May 2, and if you’re an early bird, you’ll receive some in-game cosmetics as a bonus!

In addition to revealing the official release date, the publisher also debuted a fresh trailer featuring Ghost of Yotei.

The Ghost of Yotei serves as a sequel to the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, but its narrative won’t share connections with the original storyline.

16 years ago in modern-day Hokkaido (formerly known as Ezo), a bandit group called the Yōtei Six robbed Atsu of everything. They murdered her family, leaving her for dead, tied to a flaming ginkgo tree outside her home. Miraculously, Atsu lived. She mastered combat, assassination, and hunting skills during her absence, and now she’s back in her hometown with a vendetta against six individuals: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.

In the tale of Atsu, our main character, she embarks on a quest for vengeance against a group of rogues. However, as events unfold unexpectedly, she’ll uncover that there is more to existence than the burning desire for retribution. Along her journey, she forms bonds with unusual companions and gathers allies.

The quick glimpses in today’s trailer offer a sneak peek into Ghost of Yōtei. Apart from introducing the Yōtei Six, it also showcases some breathtaking landscapes of Ezo, introduces several of Atsu’s latest weapons, a few of her companions, and unveils a fresh gameplay feature that provides insights into Atsu’s past, revealing what was lost from her.”

“The trailers give you a glimpse into Ghost of Yōtei. Alongside the introduction of the Yōtei Six, it features stunning scenery from Ezo, showcases some of Atsu’s new weapons, introduces a few allies, and presents a new gameplay element that sheds light on Atsu’s past, exposing what was taken away from her.

They continued, ‘We’ve barely touched upon what Ghost of Yōtei has to offer. Compared to Ghost of Tsushima, this game expands and refines the open-world exploration experience. You’ll get to decide which Yōtei Six member you want to pursue first, and Atsu can track other threats for bounties or seek out weapon masters to learn new techniques. Ezo is a land that’s as breathtakingly beautiful as it is treacherous. As you journey through the open world, you’ll encounter unforeseen perils and tranquil retreats (some familiar activities from Tsushima will return), and you can light a campfire anywhere for a peaceful respite under the night sky. We want your adventure in Ezo to be as free-flowing as you choose, and we can’t wait to reveal more.’
