The woman who made rape allegations against Jay-Z seeks to drop his countersuit for defamation and malicious prosecution. This accuser, who had earlier alleged that Jay-Z (Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter) and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs attacked her at the MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000, is now trying to have his lawsuit against her dismissed.
On Tuesday, April 22nd, court documents reveal that the individual referred to as Jane Doe has petitioned a judge to disregard the charges leveled against her. In a lawsuit dated December 2024, Doe had accused both Diddy and rapper Carter of sexually assaulting her at the age of 13. However, her legal team decided to withdraw this case in February.
However, in March, Carter initiated a lawsuit against Doe, her legal representatives Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, on allegations of defamation, civil conspiracy, and misuse of court processes. He argued that the accusations leveled against him were intentionally false, aimed at damaging his reputation and extracting money from him.
In her recent motion, Carter argued that the defamation lawsuit lacks validity under California law. Specifically, she claimed there are no facts presented that could substantiate a charge of abusing the legal process.
Moreover, it was contended by Doe’s lawyers that the rapper’s lawsuit did not meet the necessary legal standards because he failed to demonstrate that any procedural misuse occurred at the time of the original complaint submission, as stated in the filing document.
The argument being made is that since a conspiracy involves multiple parties, an individual acting within their legal duties cannot be held accountable for engaging in a solitary civil conspiracy. In simpler terms, because a conspiracy needs two or more people, it’s not possible for one person to conspire alone.
Previously, Jay-Z asserted that Doe’s lawsuit caused significant damage to both his personal and professional life, including harm to his reputation, emotional turmoil, and potential business losses estimated at around $20 million. Neither party has issued any public statements concerning the latest motion, although both sides persistently challenge the legitimacy and intentions behind the original allegations.
