‘Crystal Lake’ Prequel Series Begins Pre-Production, Bringing Jason Back After 16 Years

Enthusiasts of the “Friday the 13th” movie series have a significant reason to be excited! Following years of anticipation, legal complications, and production hurdles, the horror saga is making its long-awaited return. A forthcoming prequel series titled “Crystal Lake” has officially entered the pre-production phase.

It’s been 16 years since we last saw a Friday the 13th movie. Now, the series is making its comeback as a streaming show on Peacock, produced by A24. The creative mind behind this revival is Brad Caleb Kane, who has previously worked on the upcoming It prequel series titled Welcome to Derry.

Kane recently announced some thrilling news on Instagram. He uploaded a snapshot of the initial screenplay for “Crystal Lake” and disclosed that the main office has been formally activated. This implies that the crew is currently gearing up to begin shooting very shortly.

Crystal Lake Production offices are live. It’s all happening. MACHETES FOR EVERYONE!

Kane posted a script he wrote, which features characters initially conceived by Victor Miller, the author of the 1980’s Friday the 13th. The copyright belongs to “Camp Blood LLC,” a clever reference to the nickname frequently used for the lethal summer camp in the movies.

I’ve been chosen to embody Pamela Voorhees, the mother of Jason Voorhees in this series. In the storyline, my character was once a woman who nurtured a passion for singing but chose instead to care for her special needs son. Heartbreakingly, she lost him, which led her down a harrowing and chilling journey.

The show is being referred to as a “broader origin story” in the Friday the 13th series. This implies that it will delve into events preceding the initial film, offering additional insights into both Jason and his mother Pamela, thus providing fans with a richer understanding of their past.

For horror enthusiasts, this upcoming series comes as thrilling news, given that Jason Voorhees has been absent from our screens for more than a decade and a half. With a robust production team, a commanding lead actress, and a fresh perspective on the traditional slasher storyline, “Crystal Lake” promises to be an unmissable watch.
