Some spectators found themselves puzzled as to why Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, nicknamed “The Final Boss,” didn’t show up during John Cena’s wrestling match with Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 over the weekend.
As it turns out, I had the privilege of being present and playing a crucial role when Cena flipped sides and went rogue against Rhodes, a storyline that had been skillfully crafted over the preceding weeks, culminating in an intense clash at WrestleMania this past weekend.
Instead, it was Travis Scott who emerged into the ring, aiding John Cena in securing the win. This triumph propelled Cena to become the 17th WWE champion, surpassing the record previously held by Ric Flair.
Why Dwayne Johnson Stepped Away From WrestleMania 41
On The Pat McAfee Show, which aired on Tuesday, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson explained why The Final Boss didn’t show up at WrestleMania. He mentioned that he chose to keep the spotlight on both Cena and Rhodes, but left open the possibility of bringing back The Final Boss in the future.
We’ve introduced the concept of Cody’s spirit, which we can revisit whenever necessary – I sensed and decided:
I prefer not to engage with that situation. Retreat. Allow the Final Boss to retreat into obscurity. Let all attention shift to John. Let it shift to Cody.
Let’s not make it about Cody’s soul, eventually, or John’s soul.
No — let them do what they do.After the Elimination Chamber event, I reached out to John and we had a conversation. Later, I contacted Cody. In our discussion, I expressed my thoughts, “It seems that the job of the Final Boss has come to an end. We’ve managed to set it up effectively. What we just achieved could be considered the most remarkable storyline in professional wrestling history – apart from Hulk Hogan’s heel turn back in the ’90s.
Wow, this is impressive! We’ve got six weeks ahead of us – let’s get started and make it happen! You all take charge and excel in the task at hand. I’ll be there supporting you every step of the way, and you can count on me if you need assistance. However, it might be better for The Final Boss not to be directly involved with the final stages.
So they had six weeks to plan for that.
Revisiting The Final Boss
Johnson continued and said they’ll eventually go back to The Final Boss storyline:
I have other obligations to attend to, and I’d like to ensure we don’t take things too far or lose balance in the process.
I have some other responsibilities on my plate, and I want to make sure we’re not getting carried away and potentially falling off track here.
Instead of getting entangled in a controversy, I remarked, “Why insert oneself into such a dispute, when the focus should solely be on John, the 17-year-old heel champion, in my view. What could the future of professional wrestling be if this man claims he’ll destroy it in 2025?
For me, that’s the core narrative at the moment – it’s not about the soul yet. However, let’s revisit the concept of the soul later on…
Travis Scott love wrestling
About Travis Scott, even though certain fans weren’t thrilled about his involvement, Johnson recognizes Scott’s deep-seated love for wrestling. Interestingly enough, Scott is set to undergo training with Booker T, showcasing his dedication to the sport.
It’s clear that Travis Scott is my favorite, and let me explain why. He’s an ardent wrestling fan with immense respect for the sport. His dedication is remarkable, and rumor has it that he might be training with Booker T, although I’m not entirely sure about the schedule details. But what I do know is that his passion for this business is unwavering.
What happened next?
After an action-packed WrestleMania weekend, I tuned into Monday Night Raw and found myself right in the middle of a thrilling confrontation. John Cena was there, ready for the spotlight, but standing squarely in his path was none other than the Legend Killer himself, Randy Orton. The stage was set for an epic showdown!

In a recent disclosure, The Rock shared that it was Triple H who came up with the plan to change John Cena’s character from face (good guy) to heel (bad guy). For further insights, check out the video below.
