Upon his return to Southport, a fresh wave of friends meets an untimely demise. To lend a helping hand, characters Julie James (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.) from the 1997 movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” make an appearance. They aim to assist this new group of car crashers and prevent them from being ensnared by a similar fate, as hinted in the latest trailer.

Is it beneficial to watch? Based on the trailer for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” it seems not to make much of a difference, but with a twist. In its opening scenes, we witnessed a lethal dispatching that piqued our interest. We eagerly anticipate the 2025 release of this film, as Writer-Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has blended a contemporary drama and wit with high-camp, humorous moments, remaining faithful to the original franchise’s spirit. In his interview with EW, Robinson expressed that he aimed to recreate the visual aesthetic of his primary inspiration for the film, Jaws. He wanted vivid colors, picturesque settings, and contrasting elements like blue water and red blood. His goal was to create a sense of nostalgia while still feeling fresh – and that’s precisely the vibe we get from the trailer of I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The principal cast for the latest version of “I Know What You Did Last Summer” includes Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon.
