According to updates, the movie titled Star Wars: Starfighter is scheduled for theater release on May 28, 2027. This exciting news was shared by Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, and Dave Filoni, Chief Creative Officer, during this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo.
As stated in a recent announcement, the upcoming Star Wars movie is set around five years following the timeline of Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (released in 2019).
Star Wars: Starfighter offers a completely fresh journey, introducing novel characters who will appear during an era previously unexplored within the Star Wars universe.
At the Star Wars Celebration event, Ryan Gosling – who starred in Blade Runner 2049 – expressed his feelings by saying, “Being surrounded by everyone here really boosts my motivation to carry on with it.
Afterward, he emphasized that the room was brimming with “innovation and fantasy,” overflowing with affection from all the attendees at the event. Gosling noted, as he glanced around at the audience, how deeply movies resonate with us all, particularly these films, as he put it.
In addition, Shawn Levy expressed his opinion, indicating that the upcoming movie won’t be a prequel or continuation; instead, it will tell an entirely fresh tale.
The outing will be released after Mandalorian & Grogu, which is set to premiere on May 22, 2026.
