9 Kings, the innovative roguelike strategy card game from Sad Socket, is joining Hooded Horse‘s collection of exciting strategy games. This deck-building game is set to debut in Early Access on PCs on May 19, 2025.

In simpler terms, Sad Socket Developer clarified that this action will allow them to translate the game into multiple languages, improve the testing process for higher quality, expand the game’s availability across various platforms, and ultimately allocate more time towards actual development work.

9 Kings blends together aspects of city-building games, auto-battlers, and roguelike card builders to create an engaging mix. Players select from various kings (you might be able to deduce the quantity), each starting with their unique decks of buildings, troops, and spells. As you vanquish your opponents, you can seize new cards, pillaging the resources left by those you’ve defeated.

Tim Bender, CEO of Hooded Horse, said he’s spent an enormous amount of time on the 9 Kings demo and his work efficiency has significantly dropped. He tried to find ways to beat the game, but instead, it seems like the game outsmarted him.
