Mickey Rourke is filing a lawsuit against Celebrity Big Brother UK due to his premature departure from the reality series. Known for his bold demeanor, the actor is said to be pursuing payment for an undisclosed fee that he alleges was promised prior to his participation in the show.
According to what Kimbery Hines told PEOPLE, it’s clear that the producers of Big Brother knew Mickey Rourke well, understanding both his public image and the way it matched his rebellious Hollywood persona.
She also mentioned that the program anticipated Rourke to be dynamic, provocative, and eye-catching, and noted that he certainly delivered on those expectations.
Hines expressed her disappointment with the manner in which the show managed Rourke’s appearance and departure, describing it as an act of disrespect. She stated that instead of handling it appropriately, they went overboard, humiliating him publicly and exploiting his dismissal for promotional purposes.
Hines added that Big Brother capitalized on Rourke’s famous persona for advertising purposes, but later turned around and exploited it instead. She disclosed that the show is now withholding the full payment owed to Rourke according to their agreement, and his legal representatives are currently addressing this issue.
I firmly believe that the portrayal of Rourke in the show failed to honor his esteemed legacy and overstepped the boundaries of fundamental respect, not just professionally but personally as well.
A representative from Big Brother communicated an alternate account, explaining that Rourke had consented to depart the program after a conversation about his inappropriate speech and unacceptable actions. They explained that there wasn’t any actual physical fight, but Rourke had employed language deemed menacing and aggressive, which ultimately resulted in his termination from the show.
In the heat of the April 9 episode, I found myself swept up in a whirlwind of debate following Rourke’s questionable remarks concerning housemate JoJo Siwa’s personal identity. It was quite unexpected and left many of us fans feeling uneasy about his choice of words.
Following Siwa expressing her attraction to women and her partner identifying as non-binary, Rourke said, “If I stick around for more than four days, you won’t be lesbian anymore.” Siwa countered, “I can assure you that I will remain a lesbian and our relationship will continue to be very happy.
After that, Rourke mentioned he intended to restrain her, which prompted other residents to steer the discussion in another direction. In another instance, he stated, “I’ll swiftly eliminate the lesbian,” and also utilized a British term for a cigarette, then followed up with, “I’m not referring to you,” as he gestured towards Siwa.
