The climax of season three in “The Wheel of Time” is brimming with intense action and sorrowful moments. Elaida Sedai seizes control by performing an act unimaginable – slaying Suian Sanche to claim the position of Amyrlin Seat. Meanwhile, Liandrin’s journey towards becoming a Forsaken forges a perilous alliance with Moghedien. However, prior to this critical juncture, Liandrin crosses paths with Nynaeve, a person who shares a complex bond with her, and their meeting alters the course of both their lives irrevocably.
In the concluding moments of season three for “The Wheel of Time”, Nyaneve and Mat are found in Tanchico, enjoying a meal of noodles, when they stumble upon Liandrin donning two bracelets capable of capturing the Dragon Reborn. Mat rushes to fetch Elayne and Min while Nyaeve trails Liandrin, who is bound for Panarch’s Place in search of the Domination Band, a ter’angreal that controls men who can channel. This final artifact is the last piece she requires to dominate Rand al’Thor. As they regroup, they comprehend that one of them must swiftly acquire the collar and flee Tanchico without delay.
They venture into the palace, uncovering a grim sight of numerous lifeless bodies. Nynaeve pursues Liandrin, while others find themselves in tricky situations. Mat experiences peculiar journeys via an archway, and the Black Ajah pose trouble for Elayne and Thom. Meanwhile, Nynaeve locates the collar but is confronted by Liandrin. Trying to reason with her past hardships, Nynaeve speaks, but Liandrin merely responds that struggle fosters power. She expresses doubt that Liandrin has strayed too far from the path to return, only to be met with laughter. Liandrin asserts she’s following her chosen direction.
Nynaeve Finally Unlocks Her Full Power and Channels on Command in The Wheel of Time Season 3 Finale
In the climax of “The Wheel of Time” season three, Liandrin harnesses her abilities to bind Nynaeve with chains and declares that she intends to collar the Dragon Reborn, making herself the first Forsaken in a new era. She boasts that she will eliminate the most powerful channeler in a millennium and throws Nynaeve into the water before departing nonchalantly. Despite her limited mastery over her powers, Nynaeve is the very channeler Liandrin aims to vanquish. However, when Nynaeve finds herself at the bottom of the sea, chained and near death’s threshold, she experiences a sudden mental awakening that enables her not only to free herself but also to part the waters and walk out unscathed.
From a cinephile’s perspective, I find myself constantly drawn to the complex characters of Nynaeve and Liandrin in “The Wheel of Time.” These two women share haunting pasts that have hardened their hearts, making trust a rare commodity. They both struggle immensely with the notion of trusting others, but where Nynaeve seeks light even if it means stepping out of her comfort zone, Liandrin is willing to tread in darkness for the sake of power. Some argue that Liandrin manipulated this situation, counting on Nynaeve’s natural instincts to save her – a testament to their intricate relationship and the fine line between good and evil.
Kate Fleetwood Chimes in on Liandrin’s The Wheel of Time Journey
Actress Kate Fleetwood, portraying Liandrin, remains convinced that the connection between Nynaeve and Liandrin is set to unfold in intriguing directions as their relationship evolves.
Fleetwood shares with TopMob, “There’s an affinity with Nynaeve, as if saying, ‘Ah, here’s someone I can confide in.’ And indeed, she does confide in her. After some disagreements, she eventually opens up about her personal life. This means she trusts Nynaeve to some extent, and that dynamic is captivating to portray. Zoe [Robins] and I relished exploring this aspect together. Whatever comes next for them will undoubtedly be challenging.
The Wheel of Time Season 3 Finale Ends with Liandrin Petitioning Moghedien to Join Forces and Collar the Dragon Reborn
Undeniably, I’m eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Liandrin’s tale as she pursues Rand and aims to join the ranks of the Forsaken. She’s got Moghedien watching over her shoulder, pushing her to prove herself. But what’s driving her? Is it about wielding power, gaining acceptance, or something deeper yet? Only time will tell if ‘The Wheel of Time’ graces us with a fourth season.
According to Kate Fleetwood, she believes it’s about power. She feels that character has been incredibly powerless and seeks power in much the same way as a dictator or anyone else who craves it. Even the wealthiest individuals in the world can’t seem to have enough.
Anticipation runs high for the upcoming confrontation between Liandrin and Nynaeve in “The Wheel of Time”. The dynamic will undoubtedly shift given that Nynaeve has embraced her full potential in season three’s finale, while Liandrin has definitively abandoned the light.
