Honey Bunny (India) and Citadel: Diana (Italy) will not be produced as separate series anymore. Instead, their narratives will be integrated into the second season of the primary “Citadel” series.
Amazon’s previous intentions for an internationally fragmented franchise have been altered. Regardless of the accomplishments of Honey Bunny and Diana, the corporation now plans to unify all narratives under a single global plotline, according to Variety’s report.
Vernon Sanders, who leads Amazon MGM Studios’ television division, announced that they plan to combine storylines from both ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ and ‘Citadel: Diana’ – two shows within the Citadel universe – into the upcoming second season of the main series, Citadel.
Although both shows garnered high viewership, Honey Bunny became Prime Video’s most viewed title worldwide during its premiere weekend in November, while Diana boasted the top launch for an original Italian series in October. However, Amazon decided against continuing either show individually.
According to Sanders, while the popular and well-received international chapters won’t carry on as separate series, Season 2 of Citadel promises to be more thrilling than ever before.
A month after the events of Season 1, our underground Citadel spies are being pursued globally by Manticore agents. They are forced out of hiding when a Brazilian billionaire, Paulo Braga, threatens to release a destructive device, created by Citadel’s Bernard Orlick. To prevent this catastrophe, they team up with an unusual group of spies.
In simpler terms, Sanders indicated that viewers can anticipate a captivating narrative with significant consequences, fresh characters joining the mix, and an ambitious cinematic approach. Additionally, he hinted at more intense emotional arcs for Nadia, Mason, and Orlick as they grapple with the unyielding power of Manticore in the upcoming season.
