At her residence in Florida with her pet dog, the phone rang unexpectedly. The call was from one of Liam’s friends, delivering the chilling news that he had received while still in Argentina.

Cassidy recalled, “I was simply lounging on the couch when he phoned and inquired about Liam. He had heard that Liam had fallen from a balcony. I exclaimed, ‘Really? That can’t be real!’ I immediately expressed my disbelief, as it wasn’t true at all.

Shortly after chatting with his friend, Cassidy received news about Liam’s passing. After the investigation had run its course, approximately four weeks later, Payne’s autopsy report came in, outlining the reason for his death. The authorities concluded that Payne may have been unconscious during his fall, as traces of alcohol, pink cocaine, and antidepressants were detected in his body.

During the interview, Cassidy shared about the surprising and upsetting news she received. She described feeling deep emotional pain when she got the news alone, but later found comfort in friends and family who visited her. She recalled her final moments with Payne, as they had recently purchased a home together and were looking forward to a new phase in their relationship. Unfortunately, this was followed by an overwhelming grief.

On the final day in Argentina, she shared that we sat on the couch. She couldn’t stop talking about her feelings for him – how deeply she cherishes him, how much she’ll miss him, and how eagerly she awaits his return to Florida as they embark on a fresh chapter of their life together.

Cassidy emphasized that she was conversing with him, speaking at length about her affection for Liam, and she expressed this repeatedly. Later, she shared Liam’s surprising reaction to her: “Kate,” he said, “you’re going to miss your flight. Your car is in the driveway. You seem as though you think this is our last moment together forever.

Looking back, Kate Cassidy found it peculiar how odd that farewell seems, given its emotional weight. Later on, her friends shielded her from online news about the incident, deleting her profiles from various social media platforms.
