Liam Payne’s Sister Says It’s ‘Exhausting’ to Live Without Singer 6 Months After Tragic Death: ‘Gasping For Air…’

Approximately half a year following the demise of ex-One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, his elder sibling, Ruth Gibbins, expressed a touching message online. On April 16th, Ruth posted an affectionate eulogy for her deceased brother on Instagram, detailing the persistent grief she experiences since his passing.

Ruth Gibbins expressed that her mind continues to yearn for Liam, and each new day seems akin to being submerged in water, desperately seeking air that remains elusive. She admitted that life without him seems unimaginable at present, and all she can manage is mere survival.

In her own words, “I’m trying to find the right spots to laugh or grin, yet it’s incredibly tiring, as all I truly yearn for is to converse with you.” Pondering on the past shared between Liam and herself, Ruth found the moments of love amidst the sadness of loss particularly bittersweet. “Whenever I permit myself to experience warmth instead of just sorrow, I can genuinely smile at the recollections of us,” she penned down.

Last year, there was an instance she remembered vividly where they shared uproarious laughter as they attempted to replicate a YouTube video, yet she lamented that current memories are tinged with melancholy since they can’t create new ones due to the cruelty of time.

She mentioned that she keeps finding traces of Liam in her everyday experiences. “You’re still here,” she expressed, “manifesting yourself in various forms to guide me when I stray.” “I grieve for you, both openly and subtly, in every moment in between,” she added.

In her final note, Ruth expressed a heartfelt message to her sibling, stating that her affection for him surpassed any words or emotions that could be conveyed through tears. She assured him that he was aware of this sentiment. For the time being, she mentioned she would encounter him in dreams.

Six months have passed since Liam’s death, which occurred due to a fall from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as reported by E! News in October 2024. Her message arrived following this tragic event.

More recently, Liam’s partner, Kate Cassidy, shared her feelings of sorrow. During an appearance on the UK morning program Lorraine, she openly confessed that it remains challenging for her to discuss Liam using the past tense.

Kate mentioned that she frequently discusses Liam using the present tense, and finds it challenging to fully embrace his absence as part of her healing process. She explained that referring to him in the past tense makes the pain more acute. She also expressed surprise at finding herself talking about Liam in the past, admitting that accepting this reality has been extremely difficult for her.
