In ‘Welcome To The Mysterious Gathering File 2 / A Communique From Beyond The Grave File 1’, Reiko announced she’d cracked the case, only to faint moments later. With the lights dimmed by Kageyama, they utilized Reiko’s phone light to verify that the perpetrator possessed alexandrite – a gemstone that alters its color based on lighting conditions – thereby revealing Hinako as the guilty party.
She admitted to assaulting Mizuho due to lingering feelings for Mai. Upon bringing Reiko home, Kageyama discovered another case: real estate agent Kinue Kodama was murdered with a trophy, her final message deleted. As the investigation commenced, Reiko focused on the potential motives of Kinue’s children as possible suspects.
(Note: I have also provided a version that uses the active voice to make it more engaging and easier to read.)
In the third installment of The Dinner Table Detective, I find myself delving into the intricate web surrounding the Kodama murder case. Clues such as a trophy, an enigmatic dying message, and curious cuts in the curtains have left us at a standstill, offering no immediate solution. As the hours pass and my spirits dwindle, a mysterious figure named Kageyama emerges, suggesting that my overreliance on alibis may be leading me astray.
Following the disclosure of the case particulars, he’ll recognize a beloved photograph by Kinue as the crucial piece for identifying the perpetrator. With Kageyama joining forces, Reiko and Kazamatsuri are likely to lay a trap, ultimately revealing the genuine offender and uncovering a motive driven by revenge.
