Banner Guide – Code Name S Scheherazade (rerun)

Official Patch Notes

Overview

The only costume that dispels buffs AND silences

Among all characters, Schera stands out as the unique one who can consistently eliminate buffs for each turn, given that you have various costumes.

Weird AOE is difficult to use effectively, and limits placement options

Not the strongest damage compared to other water attackers

Other than the silence, Code Name S is very similar to base Schera

Schera for PVE

In the narrative of Brown Dust 2, Schera stands out as a prominent character, and you’ll come across her primary 5-star costume among the earliest in Story Mode.

Code Name S (CNS) can be seen as an alternate version to Schera’s original costume, Lapis Witch, offering somewhat of a trade-off in terms of abilities. Both characters remove buffs, cover a 3-tile range, and deal damage that is fairly comparable. However, the base Schera has slightly lower damage output than CNS (3×225% compared to 3×230%). The area of effect (AOE) for base Schera hits a straight line of 3 tiles, while CNS employs a “boomerang”-shaped pattern.

Is it worthwhile to invest heavily in Central Nervous System (CNS) technologies, given the differences? To put it simply, while CNS technology is an appealing addition, it isn’t essential or critical for your needs.

In the majority of Player vs Environment (PVE) encounters, short-range silencing abilities aren’t typically crucial. This is mainly due to players often recruiting Fiend Scholar Olstein from Chapter 4 story pub, thanks to his dispatch capability. During combat, Fiend Scholar Olstein stands out as the top Area of Effect (AOE) silencer, covering a sizable 3×3 area while replenishing your SP. With Olstein in your team, it’s uncommon to require additional silencing from Combat Nano System (CNS), given that most bosses are resistant to silence. However, keep in mind that most mobs need to be handled over multiple turns, so you might still find uses for silencing abilities in those situations.

The primary advantages of using CNS (Chrono Neutral Stigma) with Schera are twofold:

1. It offers an alternative Active Skill Overload (AOE) option instead of her base costume, which can be beneficial when dealing with multiple enemies who have taunt or counter abilities.
2. Additionally, it provides an extra costume that you can use while her other costumes are cooling down. However, it’s not usually advised to rely on CNS Schera as a primary attacker for Player vs Environment (PVE), because her small AOE has limitations in handling various mob formations.

PVE game modes

A scenario where CNS Schera proves particularly beneficial is referred to as “Tower of Redemption“. Given that you have a restricted selection of costumes in Tower of Redemption, having the ability to dish out damage, eliminate buffs, and silence all in one package makes CNS Schera an excellent option.

In addition to being helpful for fiend hunts and guild raids when facing bosses with weak points along diagonals, CNS Schera stands out due to her ability to strike multiple diagonal weak points, which is not shared by other powerful water attackers like BV.Morphea, Admiral Sylvia, and Yumi who can only hit straight lines. Her costumes, including CNS, Pool Party, and Magic Professor, make this possible.

When it comes to areas where diagonal weakness isn’t a concern, Schera may not be as effective as other potent Area of Effect (AOE) water attackers such as Morphea, Sylvia, and Yumi.

Schera for PVP

Schera stands out as an exceptional character for Player versus Player matches due to her unique capability of dishing out potent damage while consistently eliminating enemy buffs.

PP.Schera and PMB.Eleaneer are widely recognized as effective attack team openers due to their abilities to remove 2SP buffs against Granhildr. While Eleaneer has a single buff removal costume, this limits his capability to counter strong enemy buffers like Lecliss, Seir, RH.Rou on the following turn. In contrast, Schera can eliminate buffs with all her costumes, ensuring she removes them every turn, making her the optimal choice for PVP as a consistent buff remover.

At present, Schera’s wardrobe includes four outfits, each needing a five-turn break between uses. This means that wearing any three of these costumes ensures a continuous costume cycle without any gaps or cooldown periods.

CNS.Schera is a great pick due to her powerful silence in Player versus Player battles. By disabling your adversary’s skills, you can secure victories. CNS.Schera works effectively as a secondary outfit (following PP.Schera) in an attack formation, or as the initial outfit on defense.

Despite thorough comparisons, I find myself leaning slightly towards the original Schera (Lapis Witch) over CNS.Schera. They’re both powerful, but the key difference lies in consistency. Base Schera’s straight line attack tends to be more reliable, particularly against common formations, as it performs better in targeting popular enemy positions. On numerous occasions, CNS.Schera has lost us battles due to missing crucial enemy targets on the central tile. However, they’re quite similar, and the preferred costume can vary based on the current gaming environment or meta.

Another potential drawback of using CNS.Schera is that she has limited flexibility when it comes to placement on the battlefield. Typically, she must be positioned either in the central or right-hand column as placing her on the left column would result in one tile of her Area of Effect being unused.

Exclusive gear

Schera’s exclusive gear gives her additional M.ATK stats.

Although increasing M.ATK on Schera is generally beneficial, using her exclusive equipment isn’t advisable since Schera isn’t recognized as a leading attacker for end-game content. Consequently, the extra stats might not significantly improve your scores.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Schera boasts a total of four distinct outfits. Having multiple costumes increases the likelihood of encountering Schera banners, which in turn raises the possibility of obtaining her unique equipment through those specific banners. Duplicates of exclusive weapons for Schera are unnecessary as they serve no purpose.

Conclusion

Character CNS.Schera is a valuable addition to your team, but it’s advisable not to invest heavily into her. She boasts decent offensive abilities, yet her Area of Effect (AOE) is rather restricted, making her less effective for high-level PVE content in the endgame. Moreover, she doesn’t offer much novelty, as players can acquire Lapis Witch Schera (buff removal) and Fiend Scholar Olstein (AOE silence) at no cost. Consequently, outside of Tower of Salvation, there are only a few encounters where you might require both buff removal and silence in one costume.

One advantage of having her is that she completes Schera’s rotation in Player vs Player (PVP), allowing for uninterrupted use of various Schera outfits without any breaks between changes.

Unless you need a few more copies to perfect your PVP team, the recommendation is to skip.
