After achieving prominence through the Netflix show “Cobra Kai”, Courtney Henggeler has announced her departure from acting. In a recent post on Substack, she revealed her decision, saying, “After almost two decades of battling it out in the acting industry, I chose to retire on Friday.

She made clear that she no longer wanted to be just a part of the Hollywood machinery. When her representatives enquired about her plans if she wasn’t acting, she declared, “I aspire to be the engine.” Henggeler, known for portraying Amanda LaRusso in all six seasons of the popular Netflix series, expressed this sentiment.

As I pondered over my two-decade journey in the whirlwind world of entertainment, I acknowledged that while I’ve been a professional actress for most of my life, I’ve become more adept at navigating the relentless “hustle” than mastering the art itself.

She wrote about the constant work (hustle), the persistent effort (grind), and the occasional acting role, such as a brief appearance on Dr. House’s TV show or an unpredictable recurring character.

Starting from 2003, Henggeler embarked on her acting career and made appearances in lesser roles across popular series such as Mom, The Big Bang Theory, Faking It, and Jane the Virgin. In her message, the actress didn’t overlook expressing gratitude for the chances she encountered, including being involved in a long-running TV show and teaming up with George Clooney.

She had dreamed of seeing her face on those billboards for over two decades, and now it had finally happened, under the guidance of none other than George Clooney. This, by any standard, was a golden opportunity. Yet, she confessed that despite these remarkable career milestones, she wasn’t genuinely content or fulfilled with her life, as Henggeler disclosed.

For quite some time, I’ve been battling an inner voice that persistently nudged me to distance myself from this field. Though acting was a passion I embraced wholeheartedly and took pride in, the corrosive environment of this profession gradually became suffocating.
