The global-scale Tribeca Film Festival this year is scheduled from June 4th to the 15th, promising yet another round of captivating narratives and stunning artistic exposures that we eagerly anticipate.
One of the movies scheduled for release this year is the Puerto Rican production titled “This Island,” offering a captivating and authentic glimpse into life on a Caribbean island.
Great news! It seems some progress has been made regarding the film’s release, and we can’t wait to update you on the details. So, let’s dive in for more information!
It’s been verified that Habanero Film Sales, located in Rio de Janeiro, has obtained the global distribution rights for the film titled “This Island“. Consequently, this Brazilian firm will handle the movie’s distribution following its premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
According to CEO Alfredo Calviño, Habanero appreciates discovering amazing tales, especially when they originate from new talents. In his view, ‘This Island’ possesses all the key aspects to become an engaging contribution to the ongoing surge of Caribbean films. These movies have a unique blend of vivid energy, color, rawness, and humanity. They have been noticed for their visibility and awards at prestigious international film festivals and art house movie circuits.
In my humble opinion, this gritty crime-drama takes you on a rollercoaster ride through the tumultuous lives of Bebo and his brother, who are forced to resort to a life of illicit activities just to stay afloat in the unforgiving coastal town of Puerto Rico. However, when their circumstances take an alarming turn for the worse, Bebo finds himself making a daring escape with Lola, a wealthy runaway. As they navigate the island’s untamed wilderness, they must elude the relentless pursuit of danger that dogs their every step. This film is a gripping tale of survival, love, and redemption set against the stunning backdrop of Puerto Rico.
This ensemble features Zion Ortíz, Fabiola Brown, Xavier Morales, Teófilo Torres, Audicio Robles, Georgina Borri, Omar Iloy, Sean Ortiz, Jeniffe Fret, and Bryan Minaya.
