Tori Spelling Reveals What Daughter Said Making Her End ‘Unhappy’ Marriage with Dean McDermott: ‘Get Treated…’

Tori Spelling, on her Misspelling podcast, revealed that her 13-year-old daughter Hattie posed a thought-provoking question which fortified Tori’s resolve to part ways with her husband Dean McDermott after 17 years of marriage. The actress from Beverly Hills, 90210 was wed to the Canadian actor from 2006 till 2023. They formally filed for divorce in March 2024.

In the podcast, Spelling’s daughter inquired about a hypothetical scenario: “Have you ever thought about being with someone else and receiving proper treatment instead of dad?” Despite this, the 51-year-old emphasized that her daughter did not choose sides because she deeply loves her father. However, she observed the impact the relationship was having on her mother.

Eventually, things became so difficult that it was detrimental for the children to witness us as a couple, explained Spelling. It had become impossible to conceal the arguments and underlying tension anymore.

Sharing revealed that McDermott’s struggle with alcohol worsened matters, and she aimed to shield her daughters from such experiences. Eventually, the actress realized that maintaining the relationship for the sake of their children was actually inflicting more damage upon them.

In the podcast, Spelling opened up about her five children – Beau (age 8), Finn (12), Hattie, Stella (16), and Liam (18) – who she has with McDermott. She also disclosed that during a conversation in 2013, she opted not to discuss McDermott’s affair because he had allegedly threatened suicide and was admitted into a psychiatric facility for his safety.

Last July marked a year of sobriety for McDermott, who sought help at a rehabilitation center several months following their breakup. Taking to Instagram, he shared his message of hope and encouragement to those battling addiction, urging them to let go and seek assistance when needed.

Right now, Ryan Cramer is romantically linked to Spelling. They’ve been seen together at various functions since 2023. Their latest public appearance was at the premiere of Paramount+’s The Carters docuseries in Los Angeles, where they officially walked the red carpet for the first time.

Six months following his divorce, McDermott began a fresh romance with his girlfriend, Lily Calo. On May 15, 2024, they confirmed their relationship on Instagram by posting pictures from a romantic evening out at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles.
