Tom Hardy is often praised for portraying the alien symbiote, Venom. This character originates from Spider-Man’s comic book stories, but there was a time when it looked like both characters would appear together on screen, which ultimately did not materialize. More recently, Tom Hardy clarified that his earlier statements were misquoted, and he took the opportunity to explain what he truly meant to his fans.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy discussed his past comments about the potential collaboration between Venom and Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man. According to him, there had been plans for the two characters to work together on a project, but these were ultimately scrapped due to behind-the-scenes studio politics.
Fury Road’s actor clarified that his previous statements were not entirely accurate. He explained, “I had actually commented on a different topic regarding my children watching Venom.
Tom Hardy expressed regret by saying, “It’s really unfortunate when a child has to understand that their two favorite superheroes can’t appear together in a movie.
Reflecting back on my days on a Spider-Man film set, I came close to sharing the screen with another talented actor, but that collaboration unfortunately never materialized – and that’s simply the way things turned out. In retrospect, it feels like we were destined to work together, given our roles in the Spider-Man movie, but fate had other plans.
Regarding the Venom movies featuring Tom Hardy, he stated, “The trilogy came to an end and never materialized, so it wasn’t terminated or destroyed, it simply didn’t occur.
Although the actor didn’t explicitly mention the title, it appears he was hinting at Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 2021 release, Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he made a brief appearance in the end credits.
In three movies – Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), and the concluding film Venom: The Last Dance (2024) – Tom Hardy portrayed the character Eddie Brock, who is also known as Venom.
