Noted for his role as Scabior in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Nick Moran is currently recuperating at home following an urgent spinal operation he underwent earlier this week. The actor was swiftly transported to the hospital due to intense neck pain that proved to be a critical spinal problem.
As reported by his friend Terry Stone, at first, Moran chose to disregard the pain and decided to use a heating cream instead, despite his girlfriend suggesting they seek medical attention for it.
Following a long-awaited doctor’s visit, Moran was directed to the Emergency Room and informed that urgent surgery was necessary. They explained that the situation was critical and required prompt surgical intervention.
The accident left Moran with an injury on his spinal area, potentially impacting his capacity to talk and walk. This is what Stone shared with the Daily Mail after speaking to one of his relatives.
Prior to his surgery, doctors informed Moran that there was a possibility he might lose the ability to walk or speak. Stone expressed relief when Moran emerged from the operation, saying, “I was so grateful.” It seemed that Moran had made peace with the idea of losing mobility or speech if it meant survival over death.
Throughout the surgery, Moran’s natural neck bones were swapped for synthetic ones due to the intricate network of nerves surrounding the neck and spine. This operation was challenging because of the high concentration of sensitive nerves in this region, increasing the potential complications such as loss of speech or mobility. Stone emphasized that the multitude of nerves in this area posed significant difficulties during the procedure.
He mentioned that Moran had regained consciousness and was talking once more, which was a promising development. Yet, he pointed out that Moran’s movements were sluggish, suggesting an age far beyond his years. Additionally, Moran wore a neck brace and moved cautiously.
A spokesperson for Moran confirmed that the actor has returned home and is making progress towards a complete recovery. Stone initially announced Moran’s health crisis in an Instagram post on April 9th, requesting fans to send their well wishes for his recovery. Later in the day, Stone updated followers with a photo of Moran giving a thumbs-up from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
